Don’t make me do stuff.
So here we are again, and guess what? I’m still walking everywhere because my truck has decided to remain a permanent fixture in my driveway instead of a functioning vehicle. I swear, it’s like my truck and I are in some sort of long-term relationship. Except, instead of dinner dates and cuddles, we just have creative differences. I mean, it’s not asking for much—just to start when I need it. But no, it’s a diva.
Anyway, I’ve been strutting my stuff all over town, and let me tell you, my legs have opinions about it. They’re like, “What, you thought we were training for a marathon?” I’m pretty sure they’ve filed an HR complaint about working conditions. On the bright side, I’ve discovered that sometimes walking isn’t the worst thing. I mean, I get to see the world at a speed that allows me to notice random things, like the weird smell coming from the truck stop’s dumpster and the questionable bumper stickers on the cars parked outside.
Yesterday, I was walking home from my shift at the truck stop (don’t even get me started on that place), and I noticed this adorable little dog that looked like it was auditioning for a role in a Disney movie. The owner was trying to get it to sit, but the pup was too busy sniffing every inch of grass like it was on a quest for the Holy Grail. I laughed out loud, which probably confused the few other pedestrians on the road, but whatever. It’s good to have a little joy in the chaos.
Work has been… well, it’s work. I’m juggling four jobs like a circus performer on a unicycle, and let me tell you, no one handed me the manual. I love web development, but then I have to dash off to the chicken kitchen where it smells like fried regret and I have to deal with customers asking if the chicken is fresh. Spoiler alert: it’s a truck stop, so fresh is a relative term. And then there’s the social media gig which has me drained by the end of the day. I can’t keep up with the latest “trends” when I’m just trying to figure out how to keep my own life on track.
One bright spot? I’ve been catching up on some writing in my rare moments of downtime. It’s like therapy but with less emotional baggage and more sarcasm. Sometimes I find myself thinking about those old Geocities days when I felt like I had all the time in the world to just write nonsense and share it with… well, no one really. It’s kind of nostalgic, but in a comforting way. Like finding an old sweater at the bottom of your closet that still smells like your favorite incense.
So, here I am, trying to survive the chaos and build something resembling a life. I keep telling myself that it’s just a chapter, not the whole book. And who knows? Maybe one day I’ll look back on this time and laugh—if I’m not too busy walking everywhere. Anyway, I guess I should probably figure out what to make for dinner before my fridge decides to stage a protest. Good times lol.
