I need a nap… like, yesterday
So, here we are again, and I’m pretty sure I’m running on the fumes of a 15-hour workday with zero downtime. I mean, how did adulthood become this exhausting? Seriously, I can’t remember signing up for the ‘work yourself to the bone’ program. I thought I was just supposed to be an adult, not a walking zombie.
Anyway, I’m juggling four jobs right now. Yes, four. It’s like I’m trying to win some sort of bizarre competition for Most Tired Human. I love my web development gig, but the chicken kitchen at the truck stop? Let’s just say I’d rather wrestle a bear. And don’t get me started on social media management. It pays the bills, but oh boy, it drains me faster than my coffee pot on a Monday morning.
Then there’s my lovely little cashier and waitress job at the country restaurant. Let’s just say the customers aren’t exactly winning any awards for charm. The other day, a guy asked me if the chicken was fresh. I looked him dead in the eye and said, “Sir, it’s definitely chicken.” Not my finest moment, but hey, I was tired.
As if that wasn’t enough, my truck is still playing the role of an expensive lawn ornament. I’m walking everywhere, which is fine in theory. Sometimes I even enjoy it, like when I see the neighbor’s dog trying to chase its own tail. But when you’re working all those hours, losing your free time to walk everywhere feels a bit like having your soul slowly chipped away.
Family drama? Oh, that’s just background noise at this point. My sister’s still got her stuff hanging out at my place like it’s a permanent Airbnb. I asked her to pick it up, and she went off like a firecracker. It’s just the same old song and dance. I’m beginning to think going no-contact might be the answer, but you know… small town, shared shifts. It’s complicated.
I’m in this weird phase of surviving until I can build something better. I keep telling myself it’s a chapter, not the whole book. But right now, this chapter feels like it’s dragging on forever. I need to get more development work, ditch the jobs that suck the life out of me, and eventually fix or replace my truck. You know, simple stuff. Just a few life goals to add to my to-do list.
Anyway, I guess I’ll keep trudging along, one step at a time. Maybe I’ll even write more consistently. Or maybe I’ll just keep rambling in this little corner of the internet. Who knows? Right now, I think I’ll just go make dinner and stare at the wall for a bit. Sounds like a plan, right?
My feet are definitely filing an HR complaint, though. lol
