Walking builds character. Supposedly.

Well, here we are again. Just me and my trusty legs, which are currently staging a protest about all this walking. You’d think after all the time I’ve spent on my feet, they’d be a little more understanding. But no, they’re throwing a tantrum like a toddler who’s just been told they can’t have a cookie. I swear, I think my knees are unionizing.

So, my life has turned into a marathon of jobs, and guess what? I’m officially working four of them. Yes, four. I’m a web developer, and I genuinely love that. Like, I get to play with code and create things and it feels like a mini-victory every single time I hit ‘publish’. But then there’s the chicken kitchen at the truck stop, which—let’s be real—I hate. It’s just not my vibe, you know? The grease, the chaos, the constant flow of customers who seem to think ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ are optional. And then there’s social media management, which pays the bills but drains my soul. Seriously, I feel like I’m running on fumes most days.

Oh, and let’s not forget the lovely little shift as a waitress and cashier at the tiniest country restaurant you could imagine. It’s like a sitcom, but without the laugh track. Imagine trying to take an order while someone’s shouting about the weather and another person is asking if we serve vegan options (spoiler: we absolutely do not). It’s exhausting.

Most days, I’m clocking in around fifteen hours of work. Wednesdays are my saving grace—my one day off, where I can pretend I’m a normal human being. But let’s be honest, it usually turns into a marathon of laundry, errands, and catching up on sleep. Exciting, right?

So, my truck is still dead in the driveway, which means I’m walking everywhere. Honestly, it’s not the worst thing in the world. Sometimes I actually enjoy it, especially when the weather’s nice. I mean, it gives me time to think, or at least time to think about how much my legs hurt. It’s the little things. But losing what little free time I have? That’s the real kicker. I’ve got errands to run, groceries to buy, and somehow, I’m still trying to squeeze in a bit of writing. Because of course, I need to keep this little blog alive.

And speaking of life, family drama is still lurking in the background like an annoying sitcom character. My sister’s stuff is still at my place after she moved out months ago. I asked her to pick up her things, and oh boy, did she overreact. It’s like trying to navigate a minefield where I already know where all the bombs are. At this point, I’m realizing going no-contact might be the best option, but living in a small town with overlapping work shifts makes that complicated. Just another chapter in the saga of my life.

But hey, I’m still here, right? Just trying to survive long enough to build something better. One step at a time, even if that step is a little painful right now. Anyway, I’m gonna make dinner and probably collapse on the couch afterwards. Catch you later!
